Kesteven & Grantham Girls' School is an 11-18 selective academy for girls. The Governing Body of the school is the admissions authority for the Academy and each year the school selects 174 pupils for entry to Year 7 on the basis of qualification in tests administered by the Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools. 11+ testing of candidates in Year 6 takes place at the school on two successive Saturdays in early September.

The school maintains a waiting list for places in Year 7 and places do sometimes become available in other year groups during the year. The school welcomes contact from parents who think KGGS might provide an appropriate environment for their daughter.

Each year KGGS typically admits 20 - 30 external candidates into its sixth form.

Parents of prospective students are welcome to visit the school by prior arrangement.

The school's annual open evening for Y5 students and their parents takes place on Thursday 14th July 2016 from 6.00pm to 8:00pm.
